Analyzing the Intrinsic Magnetic Field in the Galactic Center Radio Arc

چکیده

Abstract The Radio Arc is a system of organized nonthermal filaments (NTFs) located within the Galactic center (GC) region Milky Way. Recent observations NTFs revealed magnetic field that alternates between being parallel and rotated with respect to orientation filaments. This pattern in stark contrast predominantly orientations observed other GC NTFs. To help elucidate origin this pattern, we analyze spectro-polarimetric data using an Australian Telescope Compact Array set covering continuous frequency range from ?4 11 GHz at spectral resolution 2 MHz. We fit depolarization models polarization characterize Faraday effects along line sight. assess whether structures local may contribute unusual orientation. Magnetic-Reconnection and Current-Sheet Model for the Radio Arc and Threads in the Galactic Center

We propose a new mechanism to explain the radio Arc and threads in the Galactic Center by current sheets produced by local magnetic shears due to interaction of a moving cloud and the vertical field based on three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamical simulations. Magnetic reconnetion and acceleration of cosmic-ray electrons in the current sheet will result in high contrast of radio emissivity insi...

The Galactic Center radio jet

Recent observations of the radio and NIR source Sgr A* reinforce the interpretation of the Galactic Center as a scaled down version of an AGN. The discovery of an elongated structure at 43 GHz and increasing evidence for the presence of an accretion disk surrounding a Black Hole lead us to assume that both, an accretion disk and a jet, are present in the Galactic Center and are physically linke...

Turbulent Origin of the Galactic-Center Magnetic Field: Nonthermal Radio Filaments

A great deal of study has been carried out over the last twenty years on the origin of the magnetic activity in the Galactic center. One of the most popular hypotheses assumes milli-Gauss magnetic field with poloidal geometry, pervading the inner few hundred parsecs of the Galactic-center region. However, there is a growing observational evidence for the large-scale distribution of a much weake...

Observations of the Galactic Center : Shocked Gas in the Radio Arc Bubble

We present Spitzer IRS spectra (R ∼ 600, 10 – 38 μm) of 38 positions in the Galactic Center (GC), all at the same Galactic longitude and spanning ±0.3 in latitude. Our positions include the Arches Cluster, the Arched Filaments, regions near the Quintuplet Cluster, the “Bubble” lying along the same line-ofsight as the molecular cloud G0.11−0.11, and the diffuse interstellar gas along the line-of...

Scale Radio Structuers in the Galactic Center

Radio continuum observations of the galactic center region have revealed a number of vertical structures running across the galactic plane. Most of the vertical structures are reasonably attributed either to poloidal magnetic field or to energy release toward the halo. The relation of the continuum structures to the molecular gas rings and their vertical extension are also discussed. Some large...
